Join me in supporting literacy in Washtenaw County.
While I have read many books that have stayed with me and helped me understand the world and the people in it, reading Hot, Flat and Crowded by Thomas Friedman remains a special book that impacted my world view.
Literacy matters to me and Washtenaw Literacy has been part of my life since 1980. I have met so many wonderful learners during that time that worked so hard to accomplish major life-changing goals from reading their first book to reading a book to their children or improving their literacy for job enhancements to getting an education. All have inspired me to keep supporting this organization that can help them make a difference.
Literacy is critical for a sustainable and just society. It takes all of us working together to help make this vision a reality. Becoming a tutor will change the way you look at your community and make a positive change in your own life. However, even if you don't have the time to be a tutor, you can still help.
