Hi friends, as you probably know, I love reading. From my very first memories of sitting on grandma's lap having her re-read my favorite Snoopy book to me, to last night before I fell asleep, getting lost in a story is not only one of my greatest pleasures. Its's also my favorite way to connect, learn and navigate my way in the world..
I can't imagine life without a book beside me. But what's even harder for me to imagine is not being able to read at all - not being able to read a job application, a lease contract, a prescription bottle or a food label. Not being able to read birthday cards or email or restaurant menus.
This is why I volunteer with Washtenaw Literacy and support its life-changing efforts to promote these invaluable skills. And that's why I'm asking for your help. Whether you make a small donation, learn about becoming a tutor or attend one of the organization's super fun special events (I'll go with you!), you'll know you are making a profound difference in the community.
And that feeling is as good as escaping into a great book!
